Manali Mission Hospital and Global Surgery

The Global surgery network is a consortium across 28 countries that have come together to enter their data onto a preliminary study of surgical infections that has served as baseline data working towards a multi centric global randomised controlled trial studying surgical site infections. The organisers, the University of Birmingham, UK, had hosted the participant countries to its structuring meeting in Birmingham from 7th and 8th November in Birmingham.

The Lady Willingdon hospital, although a very small hospital, had qualified and contributed to this initial data set and is part of this trial.

The trial is it its very initial planning stage, and it probably is like a journey of a thousand miles, but the manali mission hospital has put its foot in together with many others into the first step.

More will be reported about this in the years to come.

We are very grateful to the University of Birmingham faculty for this opportunity.
